Last week at the Frankel Jewish Academy, a girl wrote a college essay about learning to mow the lawn. Another described dinner with her family, followed by a night out with a friend.
One student talked about watching the space shuttle launch from a Florida beach; another described finding her way through the airport alone, promising herself a donut if she stayed calm.
What do these stories have in common?
They all focus on great topics that allowed the writers to share something genuine about themselves.
A college essay is never really about an experience, an influential person or a meaningful book. It’s about YOU.
We know you have a story to share with college admissions officers.
Wow spent the past three weeks at the Frankel Jewish Academy, where we were invited to guide the junior class through the Wow method. We enjoyed working with the teachers and counseling staff; we loved watching the students’ stories and beautiful writing voices emerge.
